Hidden beaches of the Zadar archipelago you have to experience
Far from the crowds and famous postcards, the Zadar archipelago hides coves reached only by trails, the sea and a friendly local skipper.
The Zadar archipelago counts more than three hundred islands, islets and reefs, and most visitors see only a handful. Those who sail further are rewarded with coves where the sea is the colour of glass and the only sounds are crickets and waves.
Sakarun, but at dawn
Sakarun on Dugi Otok stopped being a secret long ago, yet few know it is most beautiful at six in the morning, when the white sand is just waking up and the bay is still yours alone. Our tip: stay overnight in Božava and take an easy bicycle ride to the beach before breakfast.
Brbinjšćica Bay
On the western shore of Dugi Otok, Brbinjšćica is a cove you descend to through olive groves hundreds of years old. The caves at the edge of the bay are best explored by kayak, and the fishermen’s huts along the shore tell the story of the Adriatic as it once was.
Telašćica and the salty eyes of the Adriatic
Telašćica Nature Park combines steep cliffs, calm coves and the salt lake Mir, whose water is warmer than the sea for most of the year. The mix of swimming, easy trekking and clifftop views makes it a perfect day trip from Zadar or Sali.
How to reach all this?
